Pianist Matthew Skitzki’s disc Skitzki covers a lot of ground.  He plays his own ragtime tune, unlocks the chromatic key of Thelonious Monk’s “Straight, No Chaser,” makes “Moonlight in Vermont” a haunting sight and plays some original tunes that give a nod to Chopin, Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles.  Skitzki talked to ideastream’s Dan Polletta about this eclectic first effort.
