Across the country there are more than a hundred thousand unfilled nursing positions, and the number of vacancies is expected to more than triple over the next 13 years as baby boomers get older. Researchers from the University of Minnesota set out to see if there's any correlation between nursing levels and hospital mortality rates. Dr. Charles Emerman is associate chief of staff at MetroHealth Medical Center.
