Emergency rooms have long been the first stop when patients who don't have health insurance get sick. They are a very expensive way to provide healthcare and they're getting more crowded as the ranks of the uninsured continue to grow. That's why it has been widely hoped that the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals and others would play a key role in sharing that burden with MetroHealth, the county's public hospital. Sarah Jane Tribble covers that story in today's Plain Dealer and talked about the goal and the hold-up with ideastream's Eric Wellman.
