Vice President Joe Biden says the administration’s stimulus plan is working. Mr. Biden spoke in Cincinnati Thursday morning about the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. He addressed critics who say the plan isn’t getting the job done.
“It took us eight years to get dug into this very deep hole - maybe even longer,” Biden said. “It will not take us eight years to get out, but it will take us more than 140 days. So ladies and gentlemen, as my grandfather might say: Be patient, but be demanding.”
Mr. Biden says officials are only 140 days into a package that was designed for an 18 month period. The Vice President spoke in front of a former industrial building. Federal stimulus money will be used to help turn it into a mixed use development with apartments and commercial space. Mr. Biden says dollars are also aiding transportation projects around Ohio. The Cincinnati Tea Party released a statement opposing the use of federal funds for local projects. Group President Mike Wilson writes tax dollars sent to Washington that come back to the states have strings attached.
