Plunging Endowment Forces Cuts

The Garden is eliminating six full time positions, not filling other vacancies and cutting its budget eight percent. The layoffs amount to ten-percent of the Botanical Garden's full-time workforce and includes some senior positions. Executive Director Natalie Ronayne told the Plain Dealer that the staff reductions were necessary because the value of the garden's endowment has plunged from 30-million dollars to just over 13-million dollars.
