Oberlin College has a new president. The liberal arts college announced yesterday that Marvin Krislov will take office in July. ideastream education reporter Dan Bobkoff has a look at the new leader.
Marvin Krislov comes to Oberlin from the University of Michigan where he has spent the last nine years as Vice President and general counsel. He defended the University’s affirmative action program for admissions before the U.S. Supreme Court in 2003. The court upheld most of Michigan’s policies. The Oberlin College Board of Trustees announced Krislov’s selection Tuesday.
Krislov comes with an impressive resume: He graduated from Yale, was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford, then returned to Yale for law school. Krislov says he looks forward to helping the college build on its history of inclusion, and gives high priority to increasing the school’s endowment.
Krislov replaces Nancy Dye, who served as Oberlin’s president for 13 years. Krislov takes over July 1st. Dan Bobkoff, 90.3.
