Daimler Chrysler's restructuring plan will include the loss of over 200 jobs in Northeast Ohio. As ideastream's Tasha Flournoy reports, a local mayor is promising help for the affected workers.

The plan calls for closing a parts distribution center in Streetsboro at the end of year. That will eliminate a hundred jobs. Another hundred workers will lose their posts at the Twinsburg plant within the next two years. The United Auto Workers calls it devastating news for workers and their families. But, Streetsboro Mayor Mark Pavlick vowed to help them rebound.

Mark Pavlick: I’m going to get a hold of the local union to see if there’s anything that we can supply to their folks as far as retraining or any other kind of resources that might be available either through the city, the county, or state or federal level.

Chrysler’s cost-cutting plan eliminates about 13,000 jobs throughout the U.S. and Canada. Tasha Flournoy, 90.3.
