Cleveland City Councilman Joe Cimperman wants to be the next Congressman from Ohio's 10th district. But on Friday at the City Club he didn't campaign for the job -- at least not directly. Ideastream Politics reporter Kymberli Hagelberg has details.
Joe Cimperman engaged in a kind of stealth campaign for the U.S. Congress 10th District seat in his Friday address before the Cleveland City club. He didn’t talk about his main opponent, incumbent Dennis Kucinich during the main speech, but he did address Kucinich’s main criticism that he’s beholden to big money.
Cimperman: There are a few people out there that would suggest that it is somehow wrong or problematic, or counter-productive for public officials to sit at the table with CEOs and other business leaders, who have good ideas for making Cleveland grow. Yes, folks, I’m here to tell you today, Joe Cimperman, a kid who grew up on St. Clair and E. 74th Street, HAS Been to the Union club...(laughter).
Cimperman chose to pinpoint successes, like increasing the downtown residential population to 10,000. And, he expects Burke Lakefront airport to undergo an expansion of aviation and lakefront development.
Cimperman faces Kucinich and three other democrats in the primary. Former State Representative Jim Trakas is so far the only Repulblican seeking the seat.
