What is wrong with the Ohio State legislature?  Why are we continually plagued with specific issues written into the State Constitution?

Patrick - Euclid 10:18 AM 11/4/09

As a family farmer I’m scared about the passing of issue 2.  Now that “factory farms” have an inside route through our constitution I’m worried I won’t be able to compete with them now that this new cabal can give them carte blanch with their standards and practices and the little guy like me won’t be able to compete.  Can your panel discuss the negative affects this will have on our small farms and if this means larger, out of state agribusiness will be moving their operations to Ohio now?

Jon 10:20 AM 11/4/09

Dan,
I haven’t heard a word about issue four passing. The passage of this issue will effect positively the future now by the further education of Cuyahoga County. Isn’t this more significant then the smoke and mirrors offering 38000 jobs sometime down the road for unknown period of time.

Not to sound bitter or jaded, but with the deeply entrenched culture of corruption that seems to pervade county politics, what, if anything does the passage of issue 6 do to encourage if not guarantee accountability, transparency and fair play in Cuyahoga Co.

Tom Lewis 10:32 AM 11/4/09

how about issue 1?  why now?  what’s next, we donate money to everyone with dangerous jobs; like police officers, miners, construction workers, etc?

matthew 10:39 AM 11/4/09

The failure of issue #5 I think is explained by the thought that if passed, would elect a panel, that would endlessly discuss, have focus groups, townhall meetings, polling etc… basically, talk, talk, talk without any guarantee for real change.  Talk and constructive debate is definitely healthy but needs to result in improvement and tangible change.
