And here's a tip for avoiding predatory lending: 2-1-1 is a free service from the United Way of Greater Cleveland that offers free and confidential information for social health and government services in a variety of areas. Prospective home buyers who call 2-1-1 will be put in touch with organizations, including the county foreclosure prevention project, that will help them look over mortgage papers BEFORE they sign.
