The Cleveland Play House, 2007-2008 Season
This season is filled with great stories, music and exciting new plays! For classic tales, there is Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure, Pride and Prejudice, and The Chosen. The Broadway hit Doubt is one of the most highly anticipated dramas in years. Musicals will continue to play an important part in our season with Man of La Mancha! Hershey Felder performs in the remarkable George Gershwin Alone, which he has performed around the world and on Broadway. Gee’s Bend, a stirring story of the Alabama quilters, whose work appeared at The Cleveland Museum of Art, is one of the great new plays. And The Play House is the city’s best-kept secret for theatre for children. Apollo’s Fire 2007-2008 Season
Taking its name from the classical god of music and the sun, Apollo’s Fire is dedicated to the performance of 17th and 18th century music on the period instruments for which it was written. The ensemble unites a select pool of early music specialists from throughout North America and Europe, and has been praised internationally for stylistic freshness and buoyancy, technical excellence, and for the creativity of Music Director Jeannette Sorrell’s programming. Rebel

Named after the innovative French Baroque composer, Jean-Fery Rebel, the acclaimed ensemble REBEL has earned international acclaim. Since its founding in 1991, REBEL concertizes at prestigious venues, has created an impressive discography, and is frequently heard on radio in the US and Europe.

Alamire
April 9, 2008; 7:30 pm
Taking its name from the solmization syllables (la-mi-re), Alamire was founded in 2005 to explore and promote the great choral masterworks of the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance. Based in Cambridge, the group is made up of the finest consort singers in England.

Oberlin College Artists Recital Series 2007-2008 Season
Oberlin College’s esteemed Artist Recital Series is one of the oldest continuing concert series in the United States. Since its inception in 1878 more than 1,000 of the most acclaimed and accomplished musicians, conductors, orchestras, chamber ensembles and composes have graced the stage of historic Finney Chapel. Chocolate: The Exhibition at the Great Lakes Science Center
It’s America’s favorite treat, and right now the Great Lakes Science Center has chocolate fever!  In honor of Chocolate: The Exibition, running from February 9 – May 4, 2008, the Great Lakes Science Center has created unique events to please even the most discriminating sweet tooth.

February 9 – 29:  Free Chocolate Strawberries.  Bring your Chocolate ticket to the Elements Café’ and receive a free chocolate-covered strawberry, while supplies last.

February 14:  Wine and Chocolate.  Learn the art (and science) of pairing wine with desserts during a pairing of eight wines and four mini dessert courses, includes the Chocolate: The Exhibition.  Age 21 and over, 7:30p-10:00p.  $30 per person, $28 for members.  Tickets at 216-621-2400.

March 15 and April 12: Sundaes on Saturday.  See Chocolate: The Exhibition and then make an ice cream sundae.  1p-3p, $3 per sundae.

March 22 – 29:  Candy Chemistry Spring Break Day Camp.  Children in grades K-8 explore chemistry, make candy and tour Chocolate: The Exhibition.  Registration at 216-621-2400.

April 19:  Doggone Good Chocolate.  Bring in your Chocolate Labrador for an outdoor group photo.  Donations will be collected for Cleveland Animal Protective League.  $10 donation will receive free dog treats and 2 free tickets to Chocolate: The Exhibition.
