Around Noon: March 2000

Liza Lou: Bead the World
Originally aired Thursday, March 9
Everyone wants their backyard to be a colorful place where they can hang out and enjoy the good weather. But no one's backyard can compare to artist Liza Lou's. While she's got the picnic table, the charcoal grill and the laundry line, Lou's backyard has got something no other backyard has got - beads. Hundreds upon thousands of beads - yellow, green, blue, red and gold beads everywhere. Literally everywhere! From the corn on the cob to the garden hose everything is decorated with Lou's beaded trademark. And now it's all part of a new exhibition and exciting show at the Akron Art Museum - "Liza Lou: Bead the World" on view through Sunday, May 28. Around Noon host Dee Perry recently had a chance to talk with this unique artist.
