Vocalist Nora McCarthy was a fixture on the Northeast Ohio jazz scene for a number of years before moving to New York. ideastream’s evening jazz host Dan Polletta recently caught up with McCarthy, who is in the midst of releasing her latest disc Circle Completing. Nora talked about the concept for the recording, which features tributes to people who have influenced her work, including pianist Ace Carter and Jimmy Scott. She and Dan also discussed how other forms of art have been inspirations for her as well as her recent relocation to growing community of artists in Peekskill New York.
