Oklahoma Charity Group Visits Struggling Town

Eleven semi trucks filled with food and supplies arrived in Wilmington yesterday morning. A Christian charity group from Oklahoma called "Feed the Children" brought the items in response to the worsening economy in the town. From member station WYSO, Emily McCord reports.

Four years ago, Republicans who dominated the Ohio legislature pushed through a major tax reform plan. It changed taxes on families and on businesses. Every republican lawmaker voted yes and every democratic lawmaker, except one, voted no. Despite that clearly partisan vote, the man who's been Ohio's top jobs official for the past two years - a longtime Democrat - is now praising the Republican tax reforms. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen reports.

In this week's edition of Upside/Downside we consider the future of the domestic auto industry. Chrysler and Genereal Motors this week unveiled plans to retool their operations so they can return to profitability. Their plans include 50,000 layoffs worldwide, closing 14 plants, and perhaps most notably the companies say they need more loans to keep going. Strickland Appoints “Infrastructure Czar”

Governor Ted Strickland is still celebrating the federal stimulus package, which he says will spare him from having to make dramatic budget cuts. Strickland says Ohio will get more than $8 billion from the spending plan, and he's appointed what he calls an "infrastructure czar" to help oversee how the federal money is handed out.
