Military experts say the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have a signature injury. It's the one sustained when an improvised explosive device goes off nearby. It's called TBI, or traumatic brain injury. It's the same sort of injury sustained by some assault or accident victims: a blunt weapon or a car crash can have the same effect. More than 50 percent of wounded troops are expected to have sustained some form of TBI. Doctors at the Cleveland Clinic have discovered new techniques for treating the brain injured.
