Alternative Ways To Collect Child Support Succeed In Ohio
Regional News Stories: Friday, August 22, 2008
For the past 2 decades, Ohio has been cracking down on child support deadbeats. Parents who don't pay what they owe may see the money deducted from their paychecks or tax returns. Ohio corrections officials, though, are now hailing some pilot projects that are an ALTERNATIVE to jail...and they're calling for the thrust to be spread STATEWIDE. Statehouse correspondent Bill Cohen reports.

The problem hits African-American communities particularly hard: Sixty-nine percent of black children are born to single parents and a high percentage of those children are born to teen moms. On our program, we had a frank conversation about teen pregnancy and what can be done about it.
