The KeyBank Small Non-profit Series is a sequence of discussions focusing on issues important to executives of small non-profit organizations and students of non-profit management. The series is designed to provide individuals and organizations with the tools necessary to successfully execute the missions of not-for-profit organizations and remain financially sound. The first discussion of the KeyBank Small Non-profit Series was held on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 and focused on strategic planning. Speakers Art J. Falco (president and CEO, Playhouse Square Foundation), Kathryn P. Jensen (COO, ideastream), and Jerrold F. Wareham (president and CEO, ideastream) discussed the development of Playhouse Square, the merger of WVIZ and WCPN, the Idea Center project and partnership, development of a strategic mission and planning for growth. More>>> Capacity Building for Success, the second event in the KeyBank Small Non-Profit Series, was held on March 1, 2007. This event featured Cindy Koury, the Senior Managing Director for Victory Capital Management, KeyBank; and Patricia Nobili the Executive director, Achievement Centers for Children, who discussed the development of institutional, financial and other resources. Listen to the MP3>>> Practical Advice from Foundations, the third session of the KeyBank Small Non-Profit Series, featured speakers Kathleen Cerveny, Program Director, The Cleveland Foundation; Karen A. White, Program Officer, Key Foundation and Vice President, District Community Relations KeyBank; and Tom Adler, The Thomas and Joann Adler Family Foundation and Chairman, Playhouse Square Foundation. The interactive and informative free discussion about obtaining funding and foundation support was held in the Westfield Insurance Studio Theatre at Idea Center at Playhouse Square. More>>> The first event of the 2007 season focused on how to balance the need to build and maintain an administrative support structure while staying true to an artistic vision. Speakers included Raymond Bobgan, executive artistic director of Cleveland Public Theater; John Farina, chief executive officer of Red {an orchestra}; and David Shimotakahara, founder and artistic director of Groundworks Dancetheater. Speakers David Holmes, Regional Training Coordinator, The Foundation Center-Cleveland and Joni Marra, Esq., Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations, University Hospitals discussed how and where you can research new ways to fund your mission.
