Press Release
March 29, 2002
The fourth installment of A QUIET CRISIS focuses on Endowed Chairs.
What are they? How many does Northeast Ohio actually have? How do they
work? And how can they stimulate the regional economy? A QUIET CRISIS
will simulcast on WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN® Thursday, April 4 at 8 p.m.
A rebroadcast will air on 90.3 WCPN® Wednesday, April 10 at 8 p.m.;
and on WVIZ/PBS Sunday, April 7 at 4 p.m., and Wednesday, April 10 at
11 p.m.
Panel
participants include: Christopher Coburn, Executive Director, Cleveland
Clinic Foundation Innovations; Dr. Carol Cartwright, President, Kent
State University; Christopher Woolverton, Associate Professor of Biological
Sciences, Kent State University; Mauro Ferrari, Director, Ohio State
University Biomedical Engineering Center; and Mark Coticchia, Vice President
for Research and Technology Management, Case Western Reserve University.
Plain Dealer reporter Joe Frolik moderates the panel discussion. Dave
Pignanelli, Director of News and Information for ideastream is
the program host.
The panelists will discuss in-depth how new and innovative ideas - which
are often the by-product of endowed chairs at local colleges and universities
- are transferred or commercialized from a campus setting to promising
business enterprises in the local community.
