The seventh installment of A QUIET CRISIS: 3rd Frontier will focus on the state's role in promoting regional economic development, with an emphasis on Northeast Ohio. The program will air on WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN® ideastream Wednesday, November 20 at 8 p.m. (Repeats on WVIZ/PBS, Thursday, November 21 at 11 p.m. and Sunday, November 24 at 9 a.m. Repeats on 90.3 WCPN Tuesday, November 26 at 8 p.m.) Special coverage will appear in the November 24 Sunday Forum section of The Plain Dealer.

A roundtable of panelists will debate issues concerning economic development in Northeast Ohio and will include: the role of higher education in economic development -- in terms of both workforce development and research; incentives Ohio can offer to entice and retain major employers; and the Third Frontier program and what Northeast Ohio industries it might impact. ideastream reporter Shula Neuman taped an interview with Governor Taft when he came to Northeast Ohio for the Third Frontier Summit in October. Excerpts of this interview and another conducted by ideastream program host Dick Feagler will be used to guide the roundtable discussion.

Panelists will include: Bruce Johnson, Director, Ohio Department of Development; Michael Schwartz, President, Cleveland State University; Eric Fingerhut, State Senator (D); Steven Sims, Economic Development Director, City of Cleveland; Dorothy Baunach, Director, NorTech; and Greg Browning, Consultant/Lobbyist and former State Budget Director under Governor Voinovich. Dave Pignanelli, Director of News and Information for ideastreamsm will host the program. Joe Frolik, Associate Editor of The Plain Dealer, will moderate the panel discussion.

Excerpts of the roundtable discussion plus related stories and analysis will be featured in the Forum Section of The Plain Dealer on Sunday, November 24th.
