Vision Research Month What does that mean for you? We all take our eye sight for granted. However, Prevent Blindness America reminds us that, down the road: The leading causes of blindness will double their impact in the coming years as the nation's 76 million baby boomers reach older adulthood. This dramatic increase in age-related eye disease threatens to overwhelm the nation's health care resources and diminish the quality of life for millions. In fact, by the year 2030, twice as many people will be blind as are today. Macular degeneration will continue to be the leading cause of blindness. And there will be a near doubling of the total cases of glaucoma. For more information including information on many common eye problems, visit their website : www.preventblindness.org |
