ideastream's
coverage of mental health issues continues this spring with a series
of in-depth reports on policy and issues affecting the delivery of mental
health services to people all over Northeast Ohio. It's a critical period
for the funding of services at the state and local levels,with several
budget decisions under deliberation. Listen for radio reports on 90.3,
and watch for an upcoming special broadcast on the stigma surrounding
mental illness on WVIZ/PBS. In these pages, we've provided you with

Mental Health: Breaking the Stigma
Tune
in for this hour-long examination of the stigma that surrounds mental
illness. Are Northeast Ohio's providers doing all they can to clear
away the baggage surrounding mental illness? Why should people care
about stigma? ideastream's April Baer hosts this
panel discussion and call-in. Guests will include Dr. Kathy Burns,
medical director for the Cuyahoga County Community Mental Health board,
and Lee Fisher, Executive Director, the Center for Families and Children.
You will also meet several people dealing with mental illness, who
will discuss their own struggles for independence.

“Caregiving for Alzheimer’s and Dementia”
Explores the causes and effects of Alzheimer’s; preventing caregiver
