Morning Edition

Ohio Governor Bob Taft has just returned from a ten day trade mission to Japan, with stops in Tokyo and Osaka. His goal was to encourage Japanese companies to buy products and services from Ohio firms. This is no easy trick, since Japan's economy has been lagging over the past few quarters... Trade missions like this don't typically show immediate benefits; some times it's tough to understand how they might really help over the long run. 90.3's April Baer asked Governor Taft if the trade mission really let him do anything he couldn't accomplish from the Statehouse in Columbus....

90.3's April Baer spoke with Governor Taft by phone Wednesday February 9th.

Christopher Jones, the head of the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency said this week he does not expect his agency will meet the federal deadline for adopting stricter pollution regulations for Industrial-scale farms. If that is indeed the case, Ohio EPA could stand to lose over $150 thousand dollars in federal funding. Click on the audio link to hear the entire interview.
